May is Mental Health Awareness Month

It's officially Mental Health Awareness Month, and you know this is a big month for us. While this is our mission every day, we like to shine a brighter spotlight during this month.

Now more than ever, we need to come together to fight the stigma against mental health and provide support to each other. Let’s talk about it and work together to raise awareness for mental health.

I am so excited to share with you this project I started last year. It is very special to me because some of my very close family and friends came together to share their voices and provide support for this important cause. While coming from different backgrounds and perspectives, everyone shared their truth. I hope that at least some of their messages resonate with you in one way or another.

Last year, I asked my dear family and friends the question, What is mental health to you? This year, we asked the questions… When you’re going through a struggle, do you talk to someone? If not, why? If yes, who do you feel safe to talk to?

Our goal for this video is to shed light on the reasons why someone may or may not open up to others or reach out for help, when one is going through struggles. We understand that for many of us, it’s not easy to talk to someone, but please know that it’s okay to ask for help. The more we talk about this, the more we hope this encourages you to do so.

Let’s keep this conversation going and talk about mental health and mental illness, so we can all help erase the stigma. Let’s come together and support each other in every way. Because WE ARE NOT ALONE in this journey.

If you or someone you know needs immediate help, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800.273.TALK (8255) or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting BC2M to 741741.

Thank you for continued support.
